Drift Mavyn, LICSW

I have a broad range of experience working with children, youth, emerging adults, individuals, and family systems in a variety of treatment settings. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and families. I have experience supporting those impacted by trauma, intimate partner violence, substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, distress tolerance, self-compassion/trans-joy, authentic living, and overall resilience.

My Areas of Practice

Individual and Family Therapy

My services are queer & trans/gender expansive informed and affirming with an emphasis on resilience and self-compassion. I invite you to bring all of your parts, experiences, and curiosities into the therapeutic space we will co-create together.

Child, Youth, & Emerging Adults

I specialize in working with young folx who are exploring personal identity, growing coping/resiliency skills, and those who have experienced inpatient psychiatric hospitalization and acute stabilization care planning.

Group Therapy

QT2S+ informed and affirming groups are currently in development, with plans to debut offerings by Spring, 2023. Groups are designed to specifically assist individuals with managing challenging emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships.

Queer and Trans/Gender Expansive Affirming Care

My practice is focused on supporting queer and trans/gender expansive communities. Affirming care recognizes the significant impact of sexual/gender minority stress and the intersectionality of systemic oppression on a person’s health and wellbeing.

There are many paths, many walks in this life.

About Me

As a queer, gender expansive, neurodivergent, poverty survivor, and anti-racist clinician, I have witnessed the mental health challenges that can arise while existing in environments that do not affirm our identities. It is a privilege to step into therapeutic space with you. Getting started with a new practitioner can be challenging and can feel overwhelming. I foster a journey that is welcoming and nonjudgmental. My aim is to promote resilience by cultivating an affirming therapeutic relationship to help individuals (re)discover pathways of empowerment and connection to navigate authentic ways of thriving.

“When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.”
